Improvement

So I've had the lineart for this for a few days and I had an idea of how I wanted it coloured and to be honest it scared me! Haha I think I did a good job following what I had planned. I really wish that I had my white gel pen... but mine dried up and when I went to go buy one they for some strange reason didn't have any lol. So I had to use a white pencil crayon and while I think it looks fine I would've at least liked parts to be a little crisper in the snow and a little more stand-outish. 

Alright so about this piece, I wanted to have this feature Justin and Rae because Justin's first cross country event was the Traaker Opening Grand Prix so I thought it would be fitting to show the improvement Justin has made as a rider as well as how I've grown and changed as an artist So that was kind of the idea behind this.

For the Tracker Autumn/Winter Festival

Horse Name: Reflection
Rider : Justin Gutierrez
Stables : Vitalia Stables
Class : Cross Country

Story:
Justin did not like that weather.
"Erica, I don't know, its looking like it could get bad out there" he said as he was tacking up his mare. Rae stood patiently, seeming much less disturbed by the snow then her poor rider. Erica looked over the stall and sighed,
"Justin you're okay. You are literally on one of our calmest horses and you aren't the same rider you were last time we were here. You're so much better now!"  Justin still looked down nervous. 
"But what about in Norway? I fell on course. What if that happens again" he said shifting his weight slightly. Rae flicked her ears towards her uneasy rider and rested her head on the 19 year old's shoulder. Erica let out a small laugh.
"She always knows when you need comforting. Don't forget Justin, you were on Fly for that. She's less experienced than you are, and you've grown as a rider!" Feeling a little better Justin smiled and gave his mare a pat before walking over to give his girlfriend a hug. 
"I hope I can live up to your expectations haha"

The horn sounded and the pair were off. Justin and Rae headed towards the starting jump that seemed hidden by the massive amounts of snow. It seemed however as though the course flew by without a hitch. Was it easy? No, but Justin knew what he was doing. 
It feels different this time the boy thought to himself You aren't just taking care of my this time Rae, we're working together! 
As if the mare understood she shook her head before continuing on in the blizzard. Snow stung Justin's eyes but he didn't care. He was finally doing it, he finally could see how he's improved.
